OTS offers training on the fundamentals of protected areas management through four week courses offered in Spanish for managers and senior technical staff from individual protected areas or systems. Courses emphasize foundational knowledge and skills that equip professionals with a framework to contextualize previous and future learning. Principles of ecology for conservation planning and management, management planning, conflict management, alternative governance mechanisms, fundraising, conflict management, environmental education are among the subjects covered. Courses are delivered in Spanish, most recently for protected areas staff from the Andes-Amazon region.
